⚖️ Chulalongkorn University, Social Research Institute, in collaboration with the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR), the Human Rights Lawyers Association (HRLA), and Save the Children Thailand, organized an academic forum to disseminate and raise public awareness on children’s rights in the justice system.
📅 The event occurred on September 20, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Innovation Hub, Visid Prajuabmoh Building, Chulalongkorn University. The event’s objective was to focus on achieving practical outcomes beneficial to agencies involved in children’s rights within the justice system.
Dr.Eakpant Pindavanija, head of the Peace and Conflict Studies Research Group and researcher at the Social Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University, emphasized the significant role of research in sustainably developing the justice process for children and youth. He also stressed the importance of applying research-based knowledge at the policy level to create positive social impact.
On this occasion, the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR) presented two research reports: (1) “From the Classroom to the Courtroom: The Criminal Prosecution of Peaceful Expression and Assembly by Children in Thailand” (December 2023) and (2) “Conditional Freedom: The Use of Special Measures as Alternatives to Criminal Prosecution for Children and Youth in Political Cases” (August 2024). These reports were forwarded to relevant agencies for further consideration and feedback.📨
👦👧 During the summary and knowledge exchange session, TLHR, together with HRLA and Save the Children Thailand, organized a forum under the theme “Four Years of Criminal Justice for Children and Youth in Political Cases: Violence, Confusion, Silence, and Hope.” Key speakers included Khumklao Songsombun, Case Manager at TLHR, Ticha Na Nakorn, Director of Ban Kanchanapisek, and a youth representative affected by political cases.
