Fieldwork for “Katichon Nan” Project Supporting Sustainability in Bo Kluea Community

⛅️⛰️ Chulalongkorn University, Social Research Institute (CUSRI) , Participates in the “Katichon Nan” Project to Support the Sustainability of Bo Kluea Community
📅 February 27 – March 1, 2025
Lecturer Wichaya Komin, Assistant Director of CUSRI, along with researchers from the Social Innovation and Sustainability Research Unit for Vulnerable Groups, participated in the “Katichon Nan” Project, a social engagement collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and Mahidol University 🤝.
📍 This time, Chulalongkorn University’s team focused on Bo Kluea District, Nan Province, a key project area, particularly the “Ancient Salt Pits” 🏔️—a historical site producing pure mountain salt for over 800 years. This site is not only an essential tourist attraction but also a vital cultural landmark that embodies local legends, rituals, and traditions, reflecting the community’s way of life from past to present.
✨ The “Ancient Salt Pits” are more than just a production site; they tell stories of history, myths, and age-old customs 📜🕯️. This project is part of a broader initiative to explore the connection between cultural heritage and sustainable development 🌏. By working closely with local communities, the project aims to enhance local capacity and support Nan’s designation as a “Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art” 🎨.
🏫 CUSRI is committed to applying social science knowledge to promote sustainable development 🌱. We are dedicated to strengthening local communities through research and collaborative engagement with academic and community networks 🤲💡.
