The conference of the European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) 2024

“🌍✨ Dr.Sayamol Charoenratana, Deputy Director of CUSRI, and Ms. Chonlapa Anukun, a partner researcher at CUSRI, proudly participated in and presented their work at the 13th International Conference of the European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS) 2024, held from July 23-25, 2024, at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. EuroSEAS is an international organization that provides a platform for multidisciplinary scholars interested in migration, Southeast Asian politics, Thai studies, and the population of Southeast Asia. The conference was attended by approximately 550 participants.
Dr. Sayamol and Ms. Chonlapa presented in three sessions: two on “”Climate-induced conflicts and vulnerabilities in Southeast Asia: Community-based adaptation, imagination, and interventions in space, to address socio-environmental challenges,”” and one on “”Impacts of climate change on agricultural adaptation strategies in Nepal.”” They also contributed to a panel on “”Measuring Societal Progress through Social Justice and Sustainability Lens: Southeast Asia and European Experiences and Collective Challenges,”” including a presentation titled “”The Need for the Combination of Quantitative and Qualitative Assessment: Lessons Learned from the Development of the Thailand Social Justice Index.””
💡 These research projects emphasize the importance of creating social innovations that address regional and global challenges, reflecting the commitment of Thai researchers to fostering sustainable change and contributing value to society.
🤝 Finally, Dr. Sayamol was honored to be appointed to the current EuroSEAS committee as a representative of Thailand. She will play a key role in organizing the next conference in Spain and coordinating training for students in the Philippines next year.”
